At Borusan Lojistik, business target identification and dissemination is a part of our Strategic Planning Process.

We follow the VBM system to monitor target and strategy achievement rates, as well as to integrate analytic desicion making in our management perspective. VBM enables us to construct a performance management system based on comparative analysis of targeted values versus actualized values, to carry out accurate reporting, to identify and track value creating processes. We employ the Balanced Scorecard: BSC method through the BW SEM system to translate our vision and strategy into implementation.

Data analysis is disseminated within the company through various channels including VBM, monthly management reports, top management meetings, regional directorship meetings or operation summits.

Strategy Focused Organization Model

Borusan Lojistik restructured its Strategic Management Process in 2007, adopting the Strategy Focused Organization Model developed by leading management guru Dr. Robert Kaplan in cooperation with Dr. David Norton. In 2009, Borusan Lojistik was inducted by Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Norton in Palladium Group’s highly prestigious Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy, becoming the first logistics company in the world to attain this distinction.

Emphasizing that once a winning strategy is decided upon it is essential to to build and succesfully execute relevant processes to implement it, The Strategy Focused Organization Model identifies the management principles that will ensure the effective implementation of a company’s strategy. The five core principles of the model are:

  • Leaders initiate and succesfully manage change
  • Strategies are translated into operational statements
  • The organization is aligned to the strategies
  • The strategy is identified as everybody’s business
  • Strategic performance is regularly evaluated to help keep strategies up to date and dynamic.

Always staying ahead of competition on the strength of good management practices, the achievements of Borusan Lojistik was recognized internationally with Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame. To quote Dr. Kaplan at the award ceremony,
